Porcelain was at times more valuable than gold and the quest for finding the best formula has been important for many royal families throughout Germany, in fact throughout Europe. From Prussia to Bavaria and Saxony, it was the latter who - firstly in Europe - discovered the making of the porcelain.
Royal manufactures have been founded as long ago as 1710, and the finest of these still exist to this day and still live up to their proud heritage.
Watching the actual making of the paste to then shaping individual items by hand and these then being decorated by the most skillful masters, is an amazing experience. The delicacy and intricacy of some designs is simply stunning.
